Safety Officer Role

Purpose
To maintain a healthy & safety environment in the workplace and construction sites through Administrative, Client liaising in regards with Safety files, Quality control plans and HR related matters.

Basic functions, duties & responsibilities

  • Conduct Weekly toolbox talks (Monday’s)
  • Managing & issuing of personal protective equipment (when required)
  • Record and investigate incidents to determine the causes and submit necessary compensation documentation to RMA.
  • Stop any unsafe acts or processes that seem dangerous and unhealthy.
  • Conduct Risk assessments and enforce preventative measures.
  • Review existing policies, procedures and update according to legislation.
  • Compile safety files for Construction sites
  • Compile and update safety files for current Clients.
  • Handling of external audits (Department of labour) – as and when required.
  • Compiling of data packs (QCPs) and submitting to Sites.
  • Fleet Management (Cartrack) – Monthly cost saving.
  • Assist in Skills development programs with MERSETA.
  • Draft Safe work procedures for each task.
  • Conduct H&S rep meetings (3monthly)
  • Random drug and alcohol breathalyzer testing.
  • Arrange pre-employments & yearly medicals.
  • Assist in HR related matters (Disciplinary enquiries).
  • Site visits as and when required (safety file audits)
  • Arrange induction for sites.
  • Manage training i.e. working at heights, Overhead Crane, Forklift, etc.
  • Attend client meetings (WW)
Working Hours Monday –Thursday Monday –Thursday 07:00- 16:30 Fridays -07:00-14:00, occasional work on Saturdays as and when required for training or assisting management is scheduled. 07:00 – 12:00


Requirements and Skills
  • In depth knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act 85 of 1993.
  • Minimum of 3yrs experience as a Safety Officer / Manager.
  • Knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices.
  • Good oral & written communication skills (English & Afrikaans)
  • Implementing Health & Safety Systems.
  • Proficient in MS Office, Excel, Word.

Mechanical Design Draftsmen

Job Description

  • 10-12 years minimum experience
  • Design package experience required: Autocad + Inventer Professional version 2021
    • Must have AutoCAD and inventor experience.
    • Proficiency in using Autodesk INVENTOR software to create 2D and 3D technical drawings
    • Vault experience will be a benefit.
    • Must be able to work under pressure.
    • Must be able to be a team player.
    • Must have a mechanical background.
    • Mechanical Engineering and fabricated knowledge and background
    • Strong experience on Autodesk programs (Inventor)
    • Attention to detail
    • Good understanding of drawings and standards
    • Understand measuring equipment and how they are used
    • Ability to work effectively within a team environment and collaborate with engineers and other stakeholders
  • To calculate, design structural components for material handling equipment options, and to run simulations to check stresses on equipment and structures.
  • Liaising with suppliers on the correct and availability of components required in the supply of equipment.
  • Negotiating with suppliers on price and delivery of goods.
  • Mechanical design and drafting of materials handling equipment, docklevellers, hydraulic scissors lifts, good lifts and associated engineered product and assemblies.
  • Create new shop drawings, general arrangement drawings and design drawings of above including experience drawing parts and components
  • Desired Experience & Qualification Redrawing old drawings Vault drawings Measure jobs / components Draw mechanical drawings Inventor and AutoCAD Drawing parts
  • Update and maintain drawing database (and version changes)
  • Engage with Company’s Consulting Engineer regarding custom bespoke solutions, engaging with factory production management, quality control, production alignment to project program.
  • Communication Skills: Good verbal & written communication skills to effectively convey technical information
  • Quality control ensuring designs conform to as built equipment, and if changes made in production, update designs to reflect as built equipment
  • Salary range is negotiable and based on assessed last salary/cost to company/past experience/qualifications/benefits etc.
